Hi i'm ghastly,
i am a independant comic artist currently working on a manga comic. i am also setting up a new manga circle called mad ghosts. i live in wales although i am on the border so i go to an english school. i take my inspiration from film makers such as hayoa miyizaki ( spirited away, howls moving castle etc.) and quentin tarentino ( pulp fiction, sin city etc.) to create comics with lush scenery but with a very black nature.
my favorite artists are frank miller (sin city, 300 etc.) hyung min woo ( preist series) and sonia leong ( sweatdrop stodios member). i love the work by these three becaus of there dark quilitys.

how it all began
about 4 years ago now my older brother fin brought home 2 films which he had borrowed of a friend. these films he called mangas which really confused me as i had never haerd of them. any way the to films where ghost in the shell and akira. when we started watching them i realised that i had seen a film like them (spirited away) and loved its style. after watching the films he produced a book from his bag, that book was the book taht got me started on manga and my obbsession for manga, the book was 'how to draw manga getting started'. after a few crapy scetches in my sketch book and some poor copies i gave up. i still called myself a manga artist not really realising that a real manga artist is a artist with a completed manga comic. over the corse of about to years i did the occasional sketch and came up with ideas for comics but never commited myself and followed things through. after lots of encouragment from my dad (a artist himself) i finally started drawing properly again but not in my manga style just spiderman copise and westeren comic style.
about half way thruogh 2005 i started drawing manga agian, reapeatedly drawing faces in my sketch book and producing maybe 10 drawings a day. i started getting better and commited my self to a comic. the comic is still being drawen. i only have about 10 pages but its coming togeather. i have recently been posting in forums across the manga scene news of a new manga circle 'mad ghosts' which i hope will get 15 artists and 15 authors to produce comics novels and doujin (please email me if interested). so as you can see my manga is coming on and i will update soon
